Firefox Problems with using NVIDIA Webseite

more options

Hi, i found a Problem with the Nvidia Website https://www.nvidia.de/Download/index.aspx?lang=de

When i Search for Driver Download, i choose "Producttype" and then when choosing "Product Series" the Website allways Resets to Start.

I also Informed Nvidia about the Problem, but it is only on Firefox. Im on Linux (Ubuntu 18.04) and use Firefox in Latest Version 83.0 no addons.

I also Try Chromium and other Browsers but this Problem only happens on Firefox.

Hi Vinz, it seems to be behaving for me on Windows. Each time I change a drop-down, the page initiates a background request that I assume is to retrieve updates to the values in other drop-downs.

Do you notice any difference in a private window? This will block some of the trackers, in case those are an issue.

Note that you can see these XHR requests in the Network Monitor.

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies or blocked cookies.

  • check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools -> Page Info -> Permissions"

You can try these steps in case of issues with webpages:

You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

I can replicate the issue in Nightly. Followed all the steps from cor-el, even with ETP off and changed my cookies to standard plus allowed their cookies. The same issue also happens in a Private Window. I tried to change the drop downs for my laptop hardware, but they always reset. Even changing the drop down from Windows to Linux resets.

Do you see the lookup XHR requests in the Web Console or Network Monitor I showed in the screenshot I posted above ?

For testing purposes I have tried it on Linux Mint 20.1 Cinnamon Live USB. First website opened (so cache or cookies could not be the issue) - same problem. Linux Lite 5.2 - no better. :/

Workaround for this moment: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/ This one works as supposed.

Are that valid responses because these results should contain a list of possible choices in XML format ?

Web Dev I am not, you want to drive... you can get on via anydesk if you want. I just went to network in the console, then clicked on the drop downs on the site.

I Installed all Addons i use in Firefox and on Chromium it worked. (Https-Everywhere, Ublock-Origin, UMatrix, idont care about cookies)

Hi cor-el,

this Problem seems to be with Firefox i also used a Firefox out of the box to check if the Problem is one with my addons or profile changes i made, but it is not.

In the Out of the Box Firefox the Problem still the same.

I Contacted NVIDIA to see if they can Help me. The only answer i became is that the Problem is no Problem ...

Did you ever try downloading a separate copy to test? Let me also try it in the current version 85.0.

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

I hope this is what you're looking for from both browsers.
