Since I got my new Laptop it won't let me zoom by holding ctrl and scrolling. I have already tried changing settings in advanced Preferences like mousewheel.with_control.action . But nothing seems to work.

Setting mousewheel.with_control.action = 3 on the about:config page should work to zoom the page while holding the Ctrl key.

Meaning of the action value: 0: Nothing happens 1: Scrolling contents 2: Go back or go forward, in your history 3: Zoom in or out (reflowing zoom) 4: Treat vertical wheel as horizontal scroll 5: Zoom in or out (pinch zoom)

Is the scroll wheel otherwise working properly ? Do other modifiers work ?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
