Chosen solution

This is usually the result of an anti virus program using it's own security certificates that have not been added to Thunderbird's certificate store as a certifying authority. As anti virus vendors are not certifying authorities they have to be added manually. Most of the anti virus product have instructions on their web site on how to abrogate your security so their product can function.
