Support for Fire Phone?

Sometimes the pull-down menus limit thinking, as well as subject matter. The web page says 'Firefox for Amazon Devices', Amazon Kindle Fire Phone is an Amazon device, but there is no way to direct a question about support for a Fire Phone (which I have used for 5 years). Is there a version of Firefox that works on a Fire Phone?

Why or why not?

Other than this, how do I even ask the question? Example for this question: Submission format: "Which topic best describes your question?" But no pull-down answer is correct. "This field is required."

It will not let me post the question.

So I have to provide a false answer to even get into the system...

Chosen solution

Amazon devices use their own Amazon app store instead of Google Play.

Mozilla wanted to put the Android Firefox on the Amazon appstore as Mozilla did have Android Firefox 9.0 up there briefly (in end of Dec 2011?). However it was found that Amazon modified and resigned the apk which caused update problems so Mozilla pulled it shortly after. Mozilla has contacted Amazon many times about modifying this policy, so far Amazon has been unwilling with no progress on this since.

You may be able to side load the Firefox .apk file. However not sure if you will get updates this way if the install even works. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/#product-android-release

The Fire Phone was preloaded with version 3.5 of Fire OS, which is based on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean which barely meets the minimum requirement of Android 4.1.

Hi

Amazon ceased production of the Amazon Fire Phone in 2015, with sales ending not long after. It is unlikely that Firefox will be made available for that platform at this time.

I don't believe that was an answer to the question. There is an interesting Wikipedia article on the subject, and it states that the same Fire OS was used for the Kindle Fire tablet. The article lists the announcement and starting sales date, the termination of production, and the loses when Amazon decided to pull the plug. But (based on the simple math provided in the article), there were maybe 100,000 phones in inventory, and those are still being sold today (somewhere in the world). I was offered a new one, in the original box, to replace mine when the battery failed (those batteries were not designed to be replaced, but I did it anyway, with the replacement and instructions were provided by Amazon). The question was: "Is there a version of Firefox that works on a Fire Phone?", and if the answer is/was NO, then that was the answer. (A further question would have been 'Why?", based on the units sold, and still in the field over the last 6 years.) That support was provided for the Fire TV, and could have been provided for the Fire Tablet (which I also have), begs the question: What is the criteria for deciding what to support, and what effect does that decision have on the product? Nowhere did I request that a Firefox version be developed for a 6 year old product.
