Version 72 is slow and buggy

Posted

After upgrading to 72 and then to 72.0.1 everything is slower than ever! Also when bookmarking, when creating a new bookmarks folder, you cannot give a name on it. It gets automatically names "New Folder". It sucks! It is the worst version of FF since quite a while, It has so many bugs, I will be posting one a day for a month!

When creating a new bookmarks folder just type a name in the name field and select Add.

As far as slowness is concerned, take a look at this article to see if anything helps: Quick fixes if your Firefox slows down https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/quick-fixes-if-your-firefox-slows-down

Type the name where? You click on create folder and you get one with the "New Folder" name before you can start typing anything. To change the name of that folder you must open the Bookmark Manager. This version sucks big time. As for the slow performance, I rolled back to 71 and everything is back in shape.

This can happen if you use Sync to sync bookmarks. If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync temporarily during troubleshooting.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.

  • use "Verify Integrity" button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page

In case errors are reported with "Verify Integrity" close and restart Firefox and retry.
