cannot open the folder tabs in firefox

clicking on any of the named tabs across the top of Firefox does not open anything. I am old and stupid and just want to work the way it always has.

Hi suttis.harland0, when you click a tab, Firefox should change from the current tab (and whatever page it contains) to the tab your clicked (and whatever page it contains). I assume that is what you expected, but it's not what you're getting.

Just to make sure we are on the same page, are we both talking about the tabs on the Tabs bar:

You have described the problem precisely. Thai you. Is there a solution?

Maybe try to open a new window (File > New Window or Ctrl+N) to see if the Tab bar works better in the new window. If that is the case then close the not working window and keep using the new window.

Otherwise:

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

I actually have no idea why changing tabs is not working on your Firefox.

Did you test in Firefox's Safe Mode to rule out interference by an add-on? (See cor-el's reply.)
