I'm trying to convert my old .mab files to a workable format, but I cannot find anything on Mac to convert the files to. Does such a program exist?

Using Thunderbird you can export an existing address book as either vCard or LDIF.

Hi, christ1;

Unfortunately, this doesn't work, as I had the files as backups. My Thunderbird won't let me import them. That's how I ended up here. Quite a few files, and no way to convert them.

If you have TB 60 or earlier, mab files can be imported to TB with the MoreFunctionsForAddressBook add-on. Once imported, the same add-on can export to a vCard format that is newer than the version built into TB (important for importing to other Apple services).

You could also see if this works: while TB is closed, rename Personal Address Book, abook.mab to abook.mab.bak, then rename one of the other abook-2.mab, abook-3.mab... files to abook.mab. When you restart TB, does Personal Address Book now show the contacts of the renamed mab files? If it does, export it and repeat for the other .mab files.
