Suddently, browsing with Firefox is directing my searches to a service called Thumbtack. How do I avoid this?!

Every search I have done for local landscapers this evening is taking me through some service called "Thumbtack." It appears to be severely limiting my searches--how do I get rid of this routing on my searches? It has not happened previously.

Hmm. I noticed you have an Avast Extension... so you have Avast. I too have Avast and recently have a problem with Twitter. I get a statement like this, the only visible thing on the page:

If you’re not redirected soon, please use this link.

The 'Use This Link' is the same link I'm trying to access.

If I delete All Twitter Cookies, then I'm on Twitter and presented with a sign-in form. Once I'm signed-in, I'm back to the Redirect problem.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; (<Control> [Mac=<Command>] <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove “ Thumbtack “ Anything.

Also remove SafeSearch, SearchAssist Incognito, FileConverter Addon, SearchLock, DiscreteSearch, WebSearch, Findwide Search Engine, securedsearch

Now do the same in the computer’s Programs Folder.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the Applications folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

there was nothing with "Thumbtack in the Manage addons page you directed me to....
