I do not have a button I can click on to create a new emal message. I also don't have a menu button.

I do not have a button I can click on to create a new email message. I also don't have a menu button.

I phoned what they claimed was "Thunderbird support" (1 888 450 3444) but it sounded like a sham to me.

I think I can feel ok about posting a screen shot to you

Can u help or know someone who can?

Hi hap2, It looks like you're missing the Mail toolbar. To get it back, right-click on the empty space beside the tab, and click Mail Toolbar. (See attached screenshot) For more information, check out the following article: How to Customize Toolbars.

After that, to get rid of the "starred" & "tags" buttons, click on Quick Filter. For more information, see Quick Filter Toolbar.

If you could tell us where you found that phone number, we can make sure that scam gets taken down. For more information, see Avoid and report Mozilla tech support scams

There is no telephone support. Only companies that make that claim and take your money.

Toolbars are turned on and off from the View menu. The View menu is on the Menu Bar. Hidden Menu Bars are revealed by pressing the alt key or F10. From the View menu select Toolbars and turn the Mail Toolbar back on. I would turn the Menu Bar on too.

I don't have a menu button or a button I push to create a new email message. I DID take screenshot of what it looks like & will post it here.

Oh yes, I also want to get rid of the "starred" & "tags" button. Also, I will now post a pic of what it looks like when I hit the little bitty button on the far right at the top.

I hope it helps you help me

I cannot help you if you do not follow the instructions you are given. Did you press the alt !key to make the menu bar appear?

yes, I hit the alt key..didn't change anything

Chris IIias: Thank u so much. What u suggested helped. Now I just have a couple of other questions.

First, how to disable / remove the irc chat feature. Second, how to remove the following buttons: "chat" & "tag" (what does the tag button do anyway?)

Thanks you again

There is no way to remove the Chat feature, but you if you haven't added a chat account, then the feature is not doing anything. Here's how to remove the button:

  1. Right-click on the button, and select Customize.
  2. Drag the icon to the Customize Toolbar window.
  3. Click Done.

Message tags let you organize your email messages by categories. You can tag your work messages with one colour and personal with another, so they are easy to distinguish. Even better, you can then use the Quick Filter bar to pick out the messages with a specific tag from the list. For more information, see Message Tags - Categorize your email in Thunderbird.
