what is best size photo for Contacts
I will be taking photos for each person in a social organization. I am presuming the best results would come from a square photo or from a photo file that matches a standard or ideal number of pixels (tall by wide). Please let me know so I get best results with no distortion.
I'd like the pictures to be as large as is compatible with using the photos in address lists and perhaps email messages. I'll also be using the photos in other ways such as an Excel file and more.
Thanks, Warren

Hi there
The best answer You mean the size: about 800x600 pixels for a large photo 200x150 px for a small one. Do you mean file size: If a photo is included in a page, then it is wise to ensure that it does not exceed about 20kb. Do you mean the file format ('file format'): Contemporary browsers support at least three file formats: GIF, JPG and PNG, each with its own properties. GIF is good everything that is made up of vlaken with (exactly) the same color. Examples are logos, buttons and diagrams. It is possible to set 1 color as "transparent", so that a GIF does not always have to be rectangular, but also round. GIFs can also play multiple images as a kind of video. JPG (or JPEG) is very suitable for photos. It offers the possibility of compression, so that the file size of the photo remains relatively small. However, quality is lost. The file formats JPG and GIF are also supported by most older browsers. PNG has been going along for about 10 years now. It is actually a kind of "best of both worlds": it has compression and it has more possibilities for transparency than GIF (pixels can be partially made transparent) Do you want photos in a different form than a rectangle, or do you want compression but still the maintain original quality of the photo, then PNG is the choice. The disadvantage is that programs to make and edit PNG files are more scarce. Sometimes you read that PNG is not supported by all browsers, but that is outdated: the last three versions of all commonly used browsers can handle it. In summary: JPG is the most used for photos and is a good choice. However, there are cases where you would want to opt for PNG.
