Why am I getting %20 between words when I enter a topic in the search box?

Jenga

FOR EXAMPLE, IF I ENTER "SAZON SEASONINGS" IN THE SEARCH BOX AND THEN CLICK "ENTER" THE SEARCH BOX THEN READS "SAZON%20SEASONINGS" AND WILL NOT DIRECT ME TO THESE SITES. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING. ITS BEEN HAPPENING FOR QUITE SOME TIME. GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY SUGGESTIONS.

Hi Jenga, are you having this problem in Firefox's address bar?

%20 is generally used to replace spaces in a web address, but I don't know why typing, for example,

fortune cookie

and pressing Enter would give you back

fortune%20cookie

instead of going straight to your default search engine.

But is that what's happening?

Questions:

(1) What is your default search engine?

(2) Does the problem occur in Firefox's Safe Mode? In its Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem. Here's how to try it:

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. (On Mac, hold down the option/alt key instead of the Shift key.)

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?

Please turn off your Caps Lock. In text talk, this is shouting.

%20 is the code for spaces. Nothing to worry about.

it doesn't read it as spaces because the proper subjects don't appear until i remove the %20 from in between the words and press enter again
