Adware tabs randomly pop-up in all synced firefox apps.

more options

At random times a new tab pops up without me doing anything that quickly redirects to some ads. I ran Avast, Malwarebytes and AdwCleaner but nothing changed. After that I opened my laptop and I got ads there too. I doubt I have the same malware in two different PCs so I'm guessing is something from inside firefox since I have it synced in both computers.

I would be extremely grateful if anyone has a solution to this. Thank you in advance.

Chosen solution

I'm not using a software to sync firefox. I'm using firefox's built in sync based on my firefox account. So there must be something else going on.

I disabled a Youtube-to-mp3 plugin I had and I think this might have solved my problem. But I'm not sure yet. I need to leave firefox open for some time to fully prove it.

======EDIT======

Yep, it solved it. Easy Youtube to MP3 seemed to be causing random tabs to open.

The Sync probably had hidden software causing that infection and need a computer shop to fix your problem.

It's a good guess because add-ons sometimes are a vector for unwanted advertising. Easy Youtube to MP3 is one that was recently identified as having a suspicious update (discussion). The update can easily be removed from the add-ons site, but Mozilla can't easily roll users back to the previous version.

I had the same addon but I had no idea about the update. I've disabled it from both my laptop and desktop PC and it seems that the problem has been resolved.

Thank you for your info. Have a nice day.
