Request Feature: Enable Firefox to use last used bookmark folder when creating new bookmarks.
I miss Firefox's ability to save a bookmark to a previously used folder. I realize that this was never supported by the base version of Firefox, however, it was possible to accomplish through add-ons. For example, if I save a bookmark to the folder "Music", then the next time I bookmark a page it should choose "Music" as the default choice; both when using the Star icon to bookmark a page, or when using the Crtl+D shortcut.
Roughly 2-3 years ago this was able to be done using add-ons. However, since those add-ons have become legacy extensions no developer has come forward with an add-on that accomplishes this feature.
If this was enabled it would save both myself and others a lot of time. At the moment, if I wanted to bookmark a bunch of tabs that are all related while doing research, I would need to click the star icon, move my mouse down and then select the recently used folder. That is a lot more steps then simply clicking the star icon and being done.
Bookmarking a page with this method takes about 3 seconds for each tab if I am bookmarking a bunch of tabs in a row. On the other hand, if the browser remembered my previously bookmarked folder then it would only take about 1 second per tab (This was tested using Chrome as the test browser since it has this feature enabled by default).
By allowing the browser to remember what folder I bookmarked to last, it would save me a good amount of time since I could move my mouse less per tab while bookmarking pages.
Being able to accomplish the same task in roughly a third of the time is pretty important and is substantial enough of a difference that I would consider using a different browser in order to increase my productivity.

Hi, we don't have this functionality in Firefox at the moment. There is an [enhancement bug](https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1432604) for the feature though.
At the moment this isn't a priority for us, though we would accept a patch from the community if someone stepped up to do it (not suggesting you should, just making clear the status).

Thanks for the link to this add-on while this add-on might be useful to some it does not meet my needs, as it is not flexible enough. I am looking for an add-on that is more dynamic. It would be pretty inconvenient if I needed to change the default folder each time I needed to change the folder to use. This would be especially annoying if a project called for bookmarking to two or more folders in the same session.

Thanks for the links, it was pretty helpful to go through. Unfortunately, there was nothing that did exactly what I was looking for. However, I was able to find a couple of add-ons that would work as a workaround. I still would prefer it to be integrated into Mozilla's default bookmarking behavior without needing to use a complicated workaround.
After looking into the links you provided I discovered a possible workaround using the add-ons 'Multiple Tab Handler' and 'Tree Style Tab'. These two add-ons are nice because 'Multiple Tab Handler' integrates into the 'Tree Style Tab' add-on.
By using 'Multiple Tab Handler' and 'Tree Style Tab' I can reorder tabs and move them to a separate window. I can then use the Crtl+Shift+D or bookmark all tabs option in the context menu. You can also use the context menu in 'Tree Style Tab' add-on. You first need to select at least two tabs in the side-bar and then go to the context menu called 'Selected Tabs.' Under this menu, you can click the option 'Bookmark Tabs.' The selected tabs will then be bookmarked into a new folder in the Firefox 'Other Bookmarks' Folder. While this is a possible method to bookmark multiple pages at once, I still think this is not a very elegant solution and is rather cumbersome.
The add-on 'Bookmark Tabs to the Right' also seems useful as long as there are no tabs to the right of the selected tab that you don't want to be bookmarked with the others.
I have this same problem with quickly saving links from open tabs to a folder. Interestingly enough, Mozilla Thunderbird has an extension called "Quick Folder Move" which displays a popup list of the last 15 folders that messages were moved to.
