Why does Firefox browser, and no other brower, i.e. Chrome, flash very quickly with a picture when I'm on Facebook? I'm on an Asus laptop, using Windows 10.

This has just been occurring since the latest version update of Firefox. While scrolling down the page on Facebook the screen will suddenly flash/jump and another picture will be there just for a second and then I will be back where I was. This happens so often that it is startling and annoying. The picture that flashes on the screen is usually a picture of a post further down the page.

Firefox is my default browser. I do not want to change browsers. I've used Firefox for many, many years. I have set Firefox on both of my grandkids computers as their default browsers.

Hi, 1st one was from 8yrs ago on version 3.6 the other is 2012. Those were built on Netscape code. There is no more Netscape code since 57. Rust and CSS https://www.howtogeek.com/332449/whats-new-in-firefox-quantum/

Please try this : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/facebook-container/ https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2018/03/27/facebook-container-add-on/

It may work or not, can always disable it but should read about it.

Hi, since no info came about your Extensions it maybe one of them but I would not know as that was turned off in Firefox from sending info to us.

Possibly the picture is in cache and is being found and trying to populate it. Which is more or less a good thing as is not downloading it again.

It could be your Video Card Drivers but do not know as that info was stopped from being sent also as turned off.

Look for updates to your Video Card Drivers of unknown make and model.

Please before you post a question here turn on : Allow Firefox to send technical and interaction data to Mozilla. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/share-telemetry-data-mozilla-help-improve-firefox?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=send-performance-data-improve-firefox

You evidently didn't read what I wrote. The problem started with Mozilla Firefox's latest update. It's not my computer. Drivers are up to date. The "Allow Firefox to......" was and is on. I've haven't added any extensions for months.

There are many, many, many others with the same problem AND IT'S ONLY WITH MOZILLA FIREFOX BROWSER - NOT WITH CHROME, OPERA, OR MICROSOFT EDGE. GOOGLE IT!!

Every time I've had a problem, you techie guys say the same absurd things. FIX THE PROBLEM THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING.

Please do not use Caps as you know that is considered shouting and is rude.

Yes, I know that using caps is considered shouting. I hate to be made to feel like no one is listening too.

Hi, sorry you feel that way. I do not see anything that I said would cause that as was reflecting on possibilities that had not been brought up.

As a Firefox Support Volunteer I am a user just like you and not a Developer or Staff.

All I can do is give suggestions to try and trouble shoot this issue that so far seems specific to your system.

Since you would like to focus on the update, yes it is possible a file was corrupted while it was being updated and not unheard of.

Please try this : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 60.0.1 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Thank you for your follow up. As I said before, this doesn't happen in Opera, Microsoft Edge, or Chrome.

I randomly searched and here are just 2 sites where people are having the same problem: https://www.daniweb.com/hardware-and-software/information-security/threads/280508/firefox-is-flashing

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2452649 Thanks for trying, but it's not my system. I also use Malwarebytes, Ccleaner, Windows Disk Cleaner, and Wise Disk Cleaner once a week.

If I keep using Firefox I will try your suggestions.

Again, thank you for your efforts. Sandi

Thanks you Pkshadow for solving the problem. The Mozilla add-on "container" has stopped the flashing. Well, it only flashes maybe once in awhile, and it seems like it flashes less and less.

You stayed the course and kept picking away at it and I can't thank you enough. I've tried Chrome, Opera, Microsoft Edge and some others, but Mozilla Firefox has always been my favorite because I need and want the Menu bar with the File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools.

Thanks for your diligence, Sandi
