Can one get a delivery report yes or no???

I have spent a long time trying to see if I can get Delivery reports for emails sent in Thunderbird version 52 and up. Despite a lot of "should's" "maybe" do this and do that etc etc etc. NOWHERE can I find a simple answer "yes" or "no" If people dont know the definitive answer why do they respond???????

That is because the answer is MAYBE. Yes you can have Thunderbird ask for a return receipt. Will you get one back? Maybe. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Figuring_out_whether_the_recipient_read_your_message

Another type of receipt is the Delivery Status Notification (DSN) receipt ([2]). The only purpose of DSN receipts is to let a sender know when the recipient's server received the message. The sender cannot be sure the message will be read but DSN is less intrusive of the recipient's privacy than MDN and nearly all servers support it. Thunderbird 3 supports DSN receipts. Use "Options -> Delivery Status Notification" when composing a message to request a DSN receipt. The MiliMail project (now called the TrustedBird project) adds several features to Thunderbird such as MDN Deletion receipts and DSN Delivery receipts. Some are available as add-ons, others are built into special builds of Thunderbird. Unfortunately their last build is based on 3.1.15. See Trustedbird: Additional email security for Thunderbird.

This talks about Thunderbird 3. I believe we are on version 52 already? And I am asking about DELIVERY REPORTS not READ REPORTS!!! I believe there is a difference???

So I will break down my question in easy yes or no parts:

Does Thunderbird 52 support DSN reports? Yes or No?

Maybe. If the provider supports and implements that feature. Most are turning it off so spammers cannot use it to determine if they have a working address. You can tell Thunderbird to ask for one. Will you get it back from the provider? MAYBE!

The version of Thunderbird is irrelevant for this question.

I dont understand this. I am not asking what the PROVIDER is doing. I am asking if Thunderbird version 52 supports DSN yes or no.

Am I to assume the answer is MAYBE????

Like I said above... You can tell Thunderbird to ask for one. I guess it depends on what you mean by SUPPORT. Yes it supports asking for one.
