Since some time agao (may be after an update) Thunderbird stopped to open downloaded attachments. I have to save them at first and then open them. A very incomvenient featue. Please help to go back to the old process.

Chosen solution

TB will only open attachments automatically if they are image, text or html files, and only then if you have View/Display Attachments Inline checked.

That has solved my Thunderbird problem but Firefox now only allows to store downloads via imbedded links. At earlier times I could choose between save and open. Not any more and I cannot find any parameter adjustments to change that.
