When I installed Firefox it took over as my default browser without my permission - can this be fixed?

Firefox is not set to be my default browser - yet it behaves like it is, rather annoying.

When I installed Firefox it took over as my default browser - it is, however, not set to be that, it just acts like it is. My other browser is IE 11 with all the latest updates, it is set to be my default browser, but Firefox bulldozed over that. Unfortunately my bank's online banking no longer works with IE, which is why I also have Firefox.

Can this be fixed?

This was not helpful. The article describes the exact opposite of what I want to accomplish. Again, Firefox behaved like a bully and just took over as default browser. I did not want it to do that. And when I check settings it is quite clear that Firefox is NOT set as default browser. When I check IE 11 settings, it says very clearly that it is my default browser.

And yet, Firefox behaves like it is the default browser even though it is set to NOT being that.
