How can I find out if the Mozilla Maintenance Service is already installed and, if not how do I install it?

I'm running Firefox Quantum v57.0.4 under Windows Pro 64. I was just browsing around and found out about this service. I think I'm getting updates automatically for the browser itself, but if this "service" does more than that or, does it in a better way, I'd like to install it. If I indeed do not have it on my system, how can I get it? Thanks for the help.

Chosen solution

Try to uninstall the Mozilla maintenance service in the Windows Control Panel and reinstall the maintenance service as a user by running the maintenanceservice_installer.exe file in the Firefox program folder.

  • maintenanceservice_installer.exe
  • maintenanceservice.exe

Look at your Control Panel for Uninstall program options and if that is installed it will show up there next to FF install.
