Since I can't login into my firefox account while installing in the new computer. Then I decided to reset my password but turn out error message "Unexpected error" showed up after click button"begin reset". I check my registered email account there is an email contained the link for resetting password, I try to reset it by clicking the link and managed to showed up page for resetting password, entering new password and then "Unexpected error" showed again.

But there an email in my mailbox subject that I already reset my password. Any workaround for this problem ...

Corel is right, removing the signedInUser.json is similar to removing the account from the profile and trying to login one more time.

As additional information, about 24 hours ago we were experiencing difficulties for a large number of users signing in or generating reset password links, the unexpected error is usually server side or it means there is a new bug.

You also mentioned that you reset the password after getting a new computer. When you reset your password, any synced information prior will no longer be accessible. Please grab a back up of your profile on the previous computer. Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles

Please do reply back with the results of the troubleshooting steps above from cor-el to confirm that it should be working now.

Try to log in to the Firefox account via this website.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Ghostery, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.

  • make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version

Try to delete the signedInUser.json file in the Firefox profile folder and delete the Weave folder (Sync was formerly named Weave). Remove an existing chrome://FirefoxAccounts entry in the Firefox Password Manager. If that isn't enough then delete the prefs.js files to reset all prefs and maybe also delete the compatibility.ini file to reinitialize the profile.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
