Does progress keep going backwards? How to keep streaming in multiple tabs like I used to be able to.

I watch tv via tvseries4u and other sites and used to be able to load up 2 to 3 tabs or more with shows or movies that would stream until finished. I could even watch them if internet went out. Now I can barely watch 1 show with only 1 tab open as it can barely keep up even with a 100Mbps internet connection. A 2nd inactive tab will not even start to load unless I keep it open. This was my favorite feature of firefox. Multiprocess does nothing to help this. I would like to load 2-3 tabs in background and have them stream until I am ready to watch them like I could before. Is there any way to do this or to just make it like it used to be? Is it a flash vs html issue or a firefox issue? The only answers I can find are about youtube and I do not watch youtube. Please can anyone help as I am not a computer expert at all and being that I am disabled I do spend a lot of time watching programs on my laptop which I used to really enjoy. Thank you
