Converting an unsupported toolbar to fit the current Firefox Standard

Hello, I work as an analyst at a small company with a legacy type system. One of the most useful tools I use day to day at my job is a toolbar that compiles a bunch of weblinks and intranet features in a toolbar type setting.

With the most recent update to firefox, this toolbar has become unsupported.

What would it take to update the toolbar to fit firefoxes current standard? Has anyone personally undertaken this process themselves?

Hi. This link enumerates different items in the interface, that are possible with the new API. There's no toolbars (yet), but you could try exchange it with a sidebar.
