UPDATES SUCK ... for me
I have some hardware that requires certain plug-ins. I have to download and install version 45 for it to work. I uncheck the auto-updates button, and the stupid thing keeps auto-updating. I KNOW that 45 is not the most secure, but because you don't support certain plug-ins anymore, I don't have the option. QUIT FORCING UPDATES!

I knew how to fix it, it just annoyed me that it updated on its own. I wanted to vent!
Why all the way down to Firefox 45 ?
Why not Firefox 52 ESR at least as it supports the Legacy Extensions and is the only other version still getting security and allowed stability fixes besides the current Release. Do allow updates for this version and it will Not update to a Release version.

To be honest, I am not entirely certain. I tried various releases and 45 has been the only one to recognize and allow the plug-in to work.
The plug-ins are for Foscam, a security NVR and a few IP camera web interfaces. The real issue is them requiring a plug-in to begin with. Their software people need to update the firmware.
I have been running into issues with my Asus routers lately too. I used to open the web GUI just fine on Chrome, now only Firefox will display it correctly.
Firefox 52.0 and later Releases only allows one NPAPI Plugin to run and that is the Flash Player from Adobe.
The Firefox 52.0 ESR does allow other NPAPI Plugins to run. However on Windows the Win64 version only allows the 64-bit Flash Player and Silverlight Plugins to run so you need the 32-bit Firefox 52 ESR and 32-bit Plugins.
