Perhaps it will work again if you download Firefox ESR (52)? https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/

And turn off automatic updates if you don't want to get the broken version of Firefox again. Turning off automatic updates can be done in Tools->Options->Advanced->Update Or go to about:config and search for app.update.auto and turn it off.

If it isn't fixed and in an easy way, I am done with Firefox! If it isn't broke, why fix it? Tired of BIG SHOTS changing things when they are working satisfactory!

DITTO! How you can take a browser and totally destroy its usefulness is beyond me. After COUNTLESS years enjoying Firefox my productivity is down by 90%.
