Firefox updated yesterday. Hulu videos, embedded videos in Facebook, and some Tumblr images and links will not load and slow entire machine. I have had to "force quit" when using videos and Firefox hijacked my machine (MacBook Pro) and continued to play audio from embedded video after browser apparently closed. OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.

Hello,

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

That was an old jiggle the cord solution? I thought, at first, this took care of it but a few minutes experimenting found that it still does something weird to Hulu and now I'm having trouble logging into Yahoo, giving me some security issues (asking to continually re-log in) and Firefox failing to remember passwords after prompt. Really cutting into work time so I may have to deal with this later. Entire browser is hanging up in a new and unusual way, not allowing me to quit easily and causing track pad delay. There is also an unexplained loss of sound and playing sound extremely delayed. Going into Chrome just to get through day.

Okay, this is absolutely intolerable now. Whatever happened has hijacked several functions. For some reason, when a video is playing, keyboard control of the volume does not work. This has NEVER happened before. When printing a single image from browser (.png opened in its own tab) Firefox prints, page header info, thumbnail icon, page title, other icons, and a footer. These options are turned OFF. Videos have frozen and jumped. Is there any support out there or is this just the worst update ever? How can I go back?
