As you really are stuck with that orange page, and you can't do anything other than to close Firefox by clicking the closing 'X', I can only think of uninstalling Firefox from your computer :
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/uninstall-firefox-from-your-computer
and then download a new copy from here :
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all
But maybe jscher2000 has a better idea .....

Hi barbara08, thank you for the screenshot.
I notice when you got the orange screen that the back button is enabled. In other words, you ended up on that page from a different page. What page was Firefox on before? If you right-click the back button, you should be able to see the history and select an earlier page you want to go back to.
If you ignore that message and try one of your bookmarks, can you get to the expected site or do you end up back on the orange page?
Could you check whether your Firefox is connecting indirectly:
- Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
- Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
- Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
- Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it
Firefox 56-58: In the search box at the top of the page on the right side, type proxy and Firefox should filter to the "Settings" button, which you can click.
Firefox 38-55: In the left column, click Advanced. Then on the right side, with the "Network" mini-tab active, click the "Settings" button.
In All Versions: The default of "Use system proxy settings" piggybacks on your Windows/IE "LAN" setting. "Auto-detect" can lead to a flaky connection. You may want to try "No proxy".
Any difference?
the orange page just appeared you can press any bookmark or type any address you want but all you get is that one page 3-bar as soon as i hit enter orange page

You will probably already have tried this : Click on the closing 'X' - wait a while, and restart Firefox. Does that same orange page open ?

Hi barbara08, I didn't read the whole Troubleshooting Information you posted before. Before your Refresh, you had an extension named "Navigator Updater" which may be the source of this problem -- if it came back again after the Refresh.
In order to bypass it so you can remove it, I think you will need to start Firefox in its Safe Mode (Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox). Here's how:
If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.
With Firefox running: Try this:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
and OK the restart.
Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).
Hopefully now you can go to the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
- type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return
In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. "System extensions" that Firefox installs on its own are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything suspicious? If in doubt, disable or remove.
To return to normal, you can simply exit out of Firefox. Then start up again without holding down the Shift key.
Any improvement?

uninstall and reinstall from your link happy112 has worked for now we will see thank you all
If it's like the fake FBI/Interpol browser lock page, This add-on can stop such pages; https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/disallow-script-button/ disallow Script Button
The Disallow Script button looks like a letter "M" and the title is the Minus Script, drag and drop the button on a toolbar. If the button is not displayed then nothing operates, except rules for plugins.
Another way out of the trap is to (force it if needed) Close Firefox. Wait about 20 seconds for Firefox to finish closing. Right-click on the Firefox icon and select Open New Window. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Sometimes this works. If it opens, close it by Menu > File > Exit. This will flush out that web page from the Session Store.

It was the only thing that made any sense (to me) - keeping my fingers crossed that this won't happen again !
Would you consider installing that uBlock Origin add-on - just in case ?
Would you consider installing that uBlock Origin add-on - just in case ? i don't understand

This add-on might prevent a pain in the toosh like this from happening
again ......
That's what I should have said instead of 'just in case' ...... (sorry !)
