I have used Firefox for a very long time. Recently a help desk told me the reason their software didn't work with the latest version of Firefox was because I was using a 32bit version rather than the 64bit (on a 64bit machine). Grrr ... I explained a few facts of life to them and disconnected! However, it leaves me unsure of why I have the 32bit on a 64bit machine; it works just fine. Would I benefit from making the change? I'm a great believer in 'if it aint broke, don't fix it'! Having looked in the obvious places, I can't find a 64bit version. Colleagues of mine refuse to use or recommend Firefox because they downloaded a, shall we say, 'contaminated' version. Can you advise please?

Chosen solution

The stub installer of Firefox 54.0.1 gives you an option to install 32/64 bit of Firefox but defaults to 32 bit. You can download the installation and switch over to the 64-bit version with no issues. Click the Advanced or Options button when installing.

The upcoming 55 stub installer will install 64-bit by default upon meeting the system requirements (Win64 + >2GB RAM)
