On a picture thread that I frequent I am seeing a message that says "please update your account to allow 3d party hosting. the message seems to originate from www.photobucket/P500.

The web site is https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/vintage-shots-from-days-gone-by.428585/page-4482

Chosen solution

It's not you, unless you're the person that embedded that image from his or her Photobucket account.

I think there may be an extension which can "lie" to an image site about where the image is displayed so it appears you are viewing it on their own site. It involves changing the HTTP_REFERER header. That could bypass this problem, but it may cause unexpected side effects.

Photobucket doesn't allow third-party hosting as you can read if you open the page.

I'm not able to see these images as well if I go directly to the Photobucket website.

I can't even see the image if I open its page on the Photobucket website, so I assume that the image(s) get locked once the site detects this misuse.
