Can't send emails and can't uninstall Thunderbird
When I try to send I get the following error message:
An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.3.4 554 5.2.0 STOREDRV.Submission.Exception:SendAsDeniedException.MapiExceptionSendAsDenied; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message Cannot submit message. 16.55847:69000000, 17.43559:0000000060010000000000000200000000000000, 20.521. Please check the message and try again.
I've tried numerous times. No problem receiving e-mails.
I assumed that the program had become corrupted and so tried to uninstall it through the Control Panel. However it wouldn't uninstall. So I opened Thunderbird in Program Files(x86) Uninstall folder but did not find an uninstall.exe file, only a helper.exe file.
My version is 52.2.1 running under Windows 10
Chosen solution
Eureka! Problem solved. My outgoing e-mails used the alias address for both From and Reply to.
I changed the From address to the MSN address in order to conform with the outgoing server address.
I'm speculating that Mozilla changed the way it accesses the outgoing server in the latest version.
Upon further reflection I now believe that this situation did not result from a change in the TB software but rather it was caused by a change in the Outlook outgoing server software. I am speculating that this software now checks that the e-mail address used to access the server is the same as the From address in the message. That would explain the meaning of the error message produced by the server when the addresses differ. I wonder what problems this change is intended to avoid.

You are aware that the recipients now get a mail that says it is "from" an MSN email address I hope. When the click reply they will get the other address in To, but it is likely to cause confusion and more than a few emails questioning if you have been hacked.
