Firefox setting reset on me without my consent... x( never happened before.. CCleaner issue maybe
I just grabbed the new version of CCleaner v5.31.6104 today and installed on my main PC...
I closed Firefox which at that point looked fine (GUI-settings, FF general settings, etc)
I then ran CCleaner, I only clean for FF (Cache, Cookies, download location, and do compact database..)
I then copied a few of the main files to sync to my laptop's FF profile to my flash drive... - persdict.dat - logins.json - cookies.sqlite - formhistory.sqlite - places.sqlite
I then preformed a backup of the entire Mozilla AppData/roaming folder including the profile folder... to an encrypted archive... like I do at least a couple of times a month.. :D ;)
went to restart FF and BOOM it was all messed up... the GUI (settings, alignment, appearance theme, etc),
the Firefox general config settings, etc..
WERE ALL RESET to DEFAULTS, etc.. ;_; :( x(
my... saved logins, bookmarks w. fav. icons, etc were not effected...
ps: I have ever tried the FF refresh feature for not wanting to have to redo everything...
This all happened all of a suddenly with the only thing I did was run the today's new version of CCleaner.. x( this has never happened before... x(
lucky, I use the FF ext. Classic Theme Restorer, and had backups of the settings to import which saved me having to redo everything GUI related... well 90% of those settings... I still had to tweak 2-10 things left to redo..

nvm, for the last comment I found the file with a google search "content-prefs.sqlite" and found an old backup from v52.0.2 profile backup :D

I found that THIS settings were lost/reset "Feature to use last save directory by site"
I have backups from my laptop... in what data file is that save dir info stored so I can restore a backup?

It is recommended that you Not use third party programs on Firefox as data can be lost/corroded.
Firefox has a built-in way of cleaning itself.
Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar.
The button next to History, select Use Custom Settings.
Turn on Remember My Browsing And Download History At the bottom of the page, turn on Clear History When Firefox Closes. At the far right, press the Settings button. Turn on Cache and Form And Search History and whatever else you want.
Also, before working on any datafiles, you should make backups first!
indeed a ccleaner issue perhaps: https://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=48428&p=284171
lol I always back backups of my FF profile at last a few times a month.. RAR archived, w/ recovery record and ENCRYPTED/password
those built in cleaning doesn't really do it for me... I only allow CCleaner to clean two things - Cache files - cookies (to which I use its built in system to save a LOT of specific cookies I need for across the hundreds of sites I visit ;p
its also set to compact database files
to which i have never had issues using CCleaner... build v5.31.6104 was bugged, they fixed it today very quickly v5.31.6105
