I earlier posted details of a problem I've been experiencing for over a month, with all functions of Thunderbird being sluggish, hesitant, cursor sticking when composing, functions responding only slowly, etc. I quickly received a reply with suggestions, for which I'm very appreciative and the reply suggested my antivirus may be the problem and to try Windows 10 in safe mode to determine if such is the case. I was waiting to do so until one of my sons could join me to be of assistance, when suddenly, the afternoon of Sunday, 4 June, the issues suddenly resolved without any intervention on my part, although that morning, the issues had still been present. I had done nothing yet to try to resolve the problem, there had been no updates of my Windows 10, AV, AdBlock or Thunderbird that I know of, yet resolution just suddenly occurred: can anyone suggest to me why resolution seemingly spontaneously occurred? I'd appreciate some ideas, as I daresay the problems I experienced will recur and the more possibilities I'm aware of as to why the problem occurs and/or resolves, might provide me insights as to how to cope in future.

Additionally, I have another question: so very frequently when I command that an email be sent, such fails and a notice appears that the app couldn't connect with the server and often I must command several more times for connection to occur; yet some days such connection failures seldom, if ever, occur. What might be the cause and a remedy?

Chosen solution

most of the "can not send errors" are caused by anti virus programs that nod off to sleep and have to be woken up to do their job.

Try disabling outgoing email scanning. What product do you use?
