where the hell is the download window
This has been frustrating ever since I switched to FF, no freaking download window ????!!!
I keep thinking it will be fixed and I have been through 3-4 major updates, still nothing.
Hate having to press Ctrl+J everytime
Went through https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/955545 and that forum was closed with a solution that doesnt apply to today's FF (that property doesn't even exist)
Don't FF users want to see what is being downloaded ??
If 'Reset Firefox' (if that option even exists anymore) is the only solution I will have to kiss FF goodbye.
The toolbar button with a dumb arrow is useless as it doesnt even have notifications.
If a download takes a while and I come back to browse I could forget I even downloaded it with no damn download status bar like in Chrome. What gives ??

There should be a downward pointing arrow on the Navigation Toolbar, and it gets darker & flashes when the download is completed; the flashing will stop, but the darkened arrow should persist for that session.
When that darkened arrow is pressed, it should open a Downloads window "hanger". But it only shows "this Session" downloads, need to select "Show All Downloads" or look in the Library window.
Thanks for your response, like I said, I do have the arrow icon (which for some godforsaken reason got hidden during an update and I had to dig it out again) ...but it still does not resolve my issue.
First, it is not noticeable, second, color notifs are useless to the colorblind
Either it needs to blink or show notif like every other decent app does (a small number to the top right of the icon) or show download status bar, like other decent browsers.
I should not have to 1. remember I have downloaded something 2. manually click on an icon.

Lol yeah I had seen that, and I know it does a great job, but I am trying to minimize addons, and this is a very basic requirement of any browser, yes ?
Maybe open about:downloads as a pinned tab, so you can quickly jump to it.
Thanks for that, I bookmarked and keyworded it, but when it is so easy to get to that page, why cant FF just open this page when a download is done ?
I remember all browsers used to behave this way initially.
Now Chrome shows the downloaded files at the bottom. Either do this or open above location in a new tab.
In today's world of notifications, the 'colored arrow icon' is such a badly implemented childish thing and would definitely not pass a WCAG audit IMO. Un-user-friendly and unintuitive.
Why would they take away something friendly and helpful a browser can do for you and instead make it harder to access, IF you remember to do it?
Going back in time if you ask me.
And the problem with pinning that tab is that it would take memory but most importantly real estate in the tabs-bar and when we lose all tabs for whatever reason have to remember to bring it back
Am i just being old school ? Do FF users these days just not want to be bothered by something so mundane ? If so that's fine...I will just have to remember that I have downloaded something and hit Ctrl+J which is nicer than the unfriendly arrow icon and continue enjoying FF :)
Firefox only uses about:downloads when you are in a Private Browsing mode window. Otherwise you get the Downloads Manager (Library) window.
