firefox quits working after amount of time

after an arbitrary amount of time, firefox stops connecting to sites. Works fine for a while then fails. Close out the app and restart it and works for a while then stops again. I have removed all add-ins, reset the browser, uninstalled and reinstalled and still same issue.
