Hi.

I clicked to view a GPS cycle route, but the site must have been infected. There was a voice prompt that said my computer is infected and it gives a toll free number. It also prevents any other action within Firefox, although i can open other programmes.

I shut my computer down and restarted it and then completed a MAlware Bytes scan and a sophos virus scan - they both came back clear. Although the Sophos did say thatit was unable to scan one file.

I thought it was all ok, until i reopened Firefox and the site came back.

Please help.

hi martin, you can try the following to close this fraudulent page:

  • press f12 in order to open the dev tools
  • click on the cogwheel icon on the top right of the dev tools
  • check the option to disable javascript in the advanced settings section
  • afterwards it should be possible to leave the offending site & you can close the dev tools panel again
