macOS Sierra Connection Not Secure

Yesterday I upgraded to macOS Sierra0.12.2. This morning FireFox asked if I wanted to speed up its searches - I followed its instructions. Now I can't so any searches because Yahoo, Google etc do not have secure connections. I can't get some news because Washington Yahoo news and New York Times don't have secure connections. I'm writing this question from my PC because Mozzilla does NOT have a secure connection. This is just a sampling.

Everything used to work. I don't know if Firefox is incompatible with macOS Sierra or its "menu/help/troubleshooting information/refresh firefox" is buggy.

Virus protection is the free version of Avast Mac Security 2016.

I shut everything down and rebooted - now it's working again. I can't explain how one reboot doesn't work and the next one does but ...
