I am not sure I understand the problem. When you click a link in an e-mail, this should cause your default browser to open to that link.

The browser opens but the hyperlink in the email message is no longer visible.

Ah. When you access a link, it is entered into the history.

When a link is in the history, the link color changes so as to let you know you have been there before.

In your case, the color is the same as the web page.

Font

Type about:preferences#content<enter> in the address bar. Across from fonts and colors, press the Colors button.

I have mine set so that; Visited = Green, Not Visited = Red
