I have not needed Adobe Flash before but need it now. I downloaded and installed it, and it is shown in apps, but is not shown in Firefox plugins, just Shockave which is disabled. I was tryng to play a video from SBS OnDemand, plays on my TV via internet but just shows balnk on computer and, as I said, Adobe Flash is not shown in Plugins or Addons Ron

I have found the problem, ADOBE FLASH is called Shockwave Flash. I had disabled long ago because Firefox said to. I thoght Adobe Flash was a different product. So it had been installed. I have set it "Ask to Activate" and now all is OK. I was just stupid!

http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ For Windows platform there are 6 different "browser versions" available, all with the same Adobe Flash version number. Adobe has the only programs that need different browser versions of their software that I have ever come across, which can be quite confusing.

If you look in the Control Panel > Programs & Features you'll be able to see which browser version of Flash that is installed, if any are installed.

For Firefox you need the Firefox - NPAPI browser version.

Make sure you use Firefox when you go to download Flash from here: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ That web page will supply the correct version for the browser you use to view that page. And make sure that you deselect the two "optional offers" so that you only get Flash without those "extras".

Hi, Adobe Flash IS Shockwave Flash that you are seeing in your plugins. Are you able to enable it?

You can check to see if you have the latest   Adobe Flash Player  version, by clicking on the magnifying glass icon on the taskbar and typing   'Flash Player', which takes to the   Settings Manager.   Click on   'Updates', to see if you are running the latest version:   23.0.0.207 You can also do this by going to the   Windows Control Panel  and then click on   Flash Player.
Your latest   Shockwave Flash   version should be   23.0.r0.

Shockwave Flash is the old name for Flash Player as it is listed as Shockwave Flash in the Plugins panel of the Addons Manager.

There is a different Plugin called Shockwave (for director) Player.

Flash Player (listed as Shockwave Flash) http://www.adobe.com/ca/products/flashplayer.html http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions/

Shockwave (for director) Player Plugin http://www.adobe.com/products/shockwaveplayer.html http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions/

Below image is old (ignore the old versions) but it shows what each is in Plugins panel of Addons Manager.
