Import Bookmarks From Firefox

At the end of last year we were running windows 8 and through the summer upgraded to 10. Upon doing so we have been getting swarmed with emails from users stating that their bookmarks are gone,. I have tried importing them back but can not find them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

How did you do the upgrade?

Windows often creates a temporary folder (retained for 30 days) called

C:\Windows.old

If your users have that folder, their old Firefox data should be inside.

To explore that copy of the old user folder, as you would expect, you need to turn on viewing of hidden files and folders: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files

Then look for

C:\Windows.old\Users\your-user-name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Assuming you find one or more folders there, one of them most likely will have the earlier Firefox data. Look for a bookmarkbackups folder.
