Cannot delete xulstore.json

I've lost the ability to add bookmarks. I have repeatedly followed the instructions to delete the xulstore.json file in the "Show Folder" in "Troubleshooting Info", in the hopes that this would correct the issue. But every time I delete or rename the file, it just reappears and the problem of not being able to add new bookmarks, to the bookmarks I already have, persists. Looking for help to solve this lack of ability to bookmark web pages. Thanks.

I obtained some assistance from my computer tech support person. It seems to have been an issue with how I was organizing and/or naming my folders. Thank you.

Firefox needs to be closed before "messing with" anything in the Profile folder, which is basically "locked" while Firefox is running.

Thank you for the response. This was listed in the instructions I was following to delete this file, and I did make sure Firefox was closed when I attempted to delete xulstore.json in the Profile folder.

Look for the presence of a parent.lock file in that case, Sometimes Firefox doesn't close immediately, and when that "lock" file disappears you should be able to delete or edit files.

That said, where did read read to delete that specific file? It doesn't sound familiar to delete that particular file for a bookmark not saving problem. But that's something that I have ever run into.

Sorry, but are you suggesting I delete the lock file - I can see it in the Profile folder. Here is the thread I have been working off of: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/changes-toolbars-and-window-sizes-are-not-saved
