The correct password for what? Master password. just press Esc a couple of times and it will go away. Then you can reset it.

Thanks, Matt. T-bird would not recognize a just-changed password of my gmail account and would not load the account. I went through google to reset it again and was eventually able to re-establish the account through T-bird. I still don't know why it was doing what it did. What you suggest was not working. Bad computer day, I guess.
