Hi;

I have "refreshed" Firefox and gone into Extensions and there is nothing there (except a disabled Adobe Acrobat – Create PDF extension). Adware still keeps popping up. What to do?

I'm on MacOS 10.11.3 and Firefox 45.0.2

The KB has a list of anti-malware software here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware#w_how-do-i-get-rid-of-malware_2. Malwarebytes (MBAM) might be the only one with a Mac version: https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/mac/.

Regarding future protection, Tom's has a recent listicle on Mac security software here: http://www.tomsguide.com/us/best-antivirus,review-2588-6.html. They say they have used a reputable source for detection data, but their write-up and methods are light on substance as usual; they disregard established software like ESET with no explanation, too.

Thanks Phoxuponyou. Malwarebytes seems to have done the trick.

Great to hear! I'll make a note of MBAM and Mac - safe travels. :)
