I work on a number of sites which require me to change the password on expiration.

Firefox recognizes that the password has changed on my next login and asks me if I want to update the stored PW - I click on the "Update" button, but the stored password never gets updated.

The only way I have found around this is to go into the stored password manager and change the PW manually there - that works, but the automated method does not.

What do I need to do to resolve this issue?

Did you check for issues caused by an extension?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
