Why does Firefox eat memory and crash when I connect to YRC.com?

When I go to YRC.com to track a shipment Firefox just starts eating memory until the application or the entire system bogs down. I thought it was a website issue but I can get there with another browser. Firefox becomes totally unresponsive and I have to kill it with task manager. Thanks

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?

Is this when you open the website, or enter a tracking number?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

The problem exists when I open the website. Never got the chance to enter my tracking number. Does the same in safe mode except the memory eat is slower. The screen clouds over and I get the loading indication. Did you successfully try to open the site? Thanks

I have no tracking number, but yes, it open for me with no problem.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

  • Clear the Cache and
  • Remove Cookies
Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.

Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar.

  • Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.
  • Cache; Select Advanced > Network. Across from Cached Web Content, Press Clear Now.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

Cookies/history are cleared every time I close Firefox. Nothing appeared for the website. Hardware acceleration was off. Checked access on a nearly identical machine and had no problems.

There is obviously something strange about Firefox, this machine and yrc.com.

  • I have never had the issue with other sites.
  • I can get there with Internet Explorer on this machine.
  • I can get there on another machine, windows 7/Firefox

So, scratch, scratch, it probably isn't a Firefox issue.

Thanks

Thanks Fred,

At this point I'm satisfied that Firefox is not the culprit and that further time is a waste because it only effects one website.

Appreciate your thoughtful effort.
