Unable to install addon
Hi. I am unable to install the vimperator addon 3.11.3. I can go through the usual process but after restarting firefox the new addon is not visible in the installed addon list.
I get no visible errors of any kind.
I recently had a similar problem which was solved by deleting the extensions.* and compatibility.ini profile files but this does not fix my current issue.
I have successfully installed the ghostery addon but am still unable to successfully install vimperator.
Chosen solution
Nope, safe mode install did not work. Neither did:
Reinstall of ff. Installing into a new profile with old ff install. Installing into a new profile with new ff install.
It's finally working. The solution? Get the xpi file and manually paste into the <profile>\extensions folder.
Now it's great I have vimperator working again but I'm a bit concerned that this issue has cropped up twice now.
I think I will be a bit less keen to install addon updates in future...

all in one sidebar also will not install.
Oddly, only occurring on one pc, the other seems fine. Have now got aios installed but still no vimperator.

Can you install Vimperator in Firefox Safe Mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode#w_how-to-start-firefox-in-safe-mode
It is not so odd to only face the problem on one PC, no two installations are alike! Little differences will creep in over time, even on identical hardware (well, as identical as hardware is like to get).

Glad to hear you got it! Please mark your own answer as the Solution so others can find it. Nice experimentation by the way.
The XPI file solving things makes it sound like the installer might have been bad or corrupt. You could test this by trying to install an older version: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/vimperator/versions/. If they install fine, it could just be that one installer, and the add-on developer should hear about it.
OK. Thanks for the suggestions.
