It's also stopping me from adding things from customize, please help? I would rather have it back the way I had it earlier.

That looks like the overflow area of the Navigation Toolbar. Firefox would normally move toolbar buttons that do not fit on the Navigation Toolbar to that overflow area.

Try to click the Restore Defaults button in the Customize palette to restore the default toolbar setup.

  • "3-bar" menu button > Customize

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
