How do I stop Firefox from giving search suggestions in the address bar?

more options

As of the newest update, if I start to type something into the address bar, I get random search suggestions as if I were the using the search bar instead. How do I disable this? It's kind of annoying and it really bothers me. I read in another article that if I went to about:config and checked 'I'll be careful,' it would stop, but I'm worried it may screw up my browser. Is there any other way to fix this? Or should i just move on to a superior browser?

Chosen solution

No it won't cause any other problems as long as you don't modify any other preferences.

The issue looks like this

That's a new feature in Firefox 43. To turn it off do this:

  1. Go to about:config in Firefox
  2. Click the I'll be careful button
  3. Locate the browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete boolean
  4. Change the value to false

Note: You may need to restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.

I know that, I also asked if doing that would also cause other problems on my computer.
