How can I restore the search bar drop down list and current search engine icon as it was in FF version 33?

Some time ealier, I was able to revert to dropdown list via editing about:config, and setting browser.search.showOneOffButtons to false.

But yesterday firefox asked me about improving my search and I agreed. After this, I see ugly new tile instead of dropdown list.

How can I revert search to it's old dropdown appearance?

Chosen solution

"browser.search.showOneOffButtons" was a temporary pref that lasted from Firefox 34 up thru Firefox 42. The underlying code that supported that preference is gone as of Firefox 43.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ has an option for Old search (experimental) in CTR Options > General UI (1)

Thank you, the-edmeister What a relief to bring back dropdown search.

It's sad that option was removed from firefox and I have to install this monstrous addon.
