I edit my address book but the changes do not last. How can I fix this?

I open thunderbird, then my address book, then I make changes but the next time I open them everything reverts back to the way it was before I made the changes.

This usually suggests that the underlying address book data file is damaged.

I would export the affected address book, delete the address book data file, and then re-import the exported file. Choose the LDIF file format option for a seamless transfer.

If it's the "Personal Address Book" being affected, then after exporting, you'll have to close Thunderbird, find your profile, locate abook.mab and delete it. When you re-open Thunderbird it will automatically re-create Personal Address Book. You'll have to import your LDIF file to a new address book, then transfer (drag and drop) its contents back into Personal Address Book. Hint: choose names carefully. You don't want two different address books both named Paersonal Address Book.
