In a new message my personal list is sorting descending instead of ascending

When I open my Address Book, the entries are ascending a to z as expected. However, when I open and new message and then open my address book, the entries are descending z to a, why is it different and how do I change it to ascending?

Chosen solution

when you are in the compose window and select 'contacts', you are able to display them in a different sequence. The top line in contact list has the ability to reverse the sort order.
