Unwanted redirects from links on web pages in Firefox

The last few days, I’ve been getting surprised by unwanted redirects from links on web pages in Firefox. The second time I click the link, it works as expected.

I haven’t recorded the links or the pages that open, but they’re all pages that look like scams and that say “Do you really want to leave this page?” when I close them. I'll start recording them.

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
