hello, you can disable the tab mute button when you enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named browser.tabs.showAudioPlayingIcon. double-click it and change its value to false.

THANK YOU! I am sick and tired of having to spend the time to undo what some arrogant compugeek has decided what I MUST HAVE! All that does is make; what is SUPPOSED TO BE A TIME AND WORK SAVING DEVICE HELL! NOTHING BUT A LOT OF WORK AND TIME WASTED!

Note that the Classic Theme Restorer has this as a checkbox under Advanced.

  • Classic Theme Restorer: Advanced > [] Audio playing icon on tabs

I don't want to restore to classic theme!

That is just how the extension was named originally when Firefox got the at that time 'new' Australis appearance. You can only place a checkmark on items that you want to use and leave others untouched or in off state. Using the extension makes it easier to keep track of changes that you make or restore settings if you ever would have to Refresh/Reset Firefox and have a new profile.

  • chuckle* WHAT NOW?

I have a related issue. Not with the icon/button, but with the menu item. Does anybody know how to remove it?

Hi Karl, let's address that in your new thread and leave this one to be about the icon.
